Frequently Asked Questions
What materials do you use?
All Northforge Labs products are printed in PLA — a lightweight, durable material that's well-suited for hobby storage and everyday use on the paint table. PLA holds its shape reliably, doesn't flex or warp under normal conditions, and is tough enough to handle real hobby workflows. It's also one of the more environmentally friendly filament options available, which we think is worth mentioning.
How long does it take to receive my order?
Every order is made to order — nothing sits in a warehouse waiting. Once your order is placed, production takes approximately 3–5 business days before your item ships. Transit time is on top of that and depends on your location and the shipping method selected at checkout.
We'll always be upfront about current lead times. If something changes — busier than usual, a specific product takes longer — we'll communicate that clearly.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Because every product is made specifically for you when you order, we're unable to accept returns on items that arrive as described.
However, if your order arrives damaged or defective, we'll make it right. Contact us within 7 days of receiving your order with a photo of the issue and we'll arrange an exchange at no cost to you. We stand behind what we make.
Can I request a custom size or colour?
Our products come in standardized sizes — dimensions are fixed and have been designed to work with common hobby products and workflows. We don't offer custom sizing at this time.
Colour is a different story. Every order includes the option to choose an accent colour for your product. You'll see the available options on each product page. If you have a specific colour in mind that isn't listed, feel free to reach out and we'll let you know what's available.
Where do you ship?
We ship to Canada, the United States, and internationally. Shipping options and rates for your location will be calculated at checkout before you complete your order — no surprises.
If you're unsure whether we ship to your country, feel free to get in touch and we'll confirm.
How is shipping calculated?
Shipping is customer-paid and calculated at checkout based on your location and the weight of your order. We don't mark up shipping costs — what you see at checkout reflects the actual carrier rate for your package.
We're always looking at ways to keep shipping costs reasonable, particularly for international customers.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) processed securely through Stripe. Shop Pay is also available for a faster checkout experience if you've used it before.
All transactions are encrypted and processed securely. We never store your payment information.
Are your products safe to use around miniature paints and hobby solvents?
For the vast majority of hobby use, yes. PLA is inert and handles water-based paints, washes, and standard brush cleaners without any issues — so Citadel, Vallejo, Army Painter, and similar ranges are all fine.
That said, we'd recommend avoiding prolonged direct contact with harsh solvents such as acetone, lacquer thinners, or aerosol primers sprayed directly onto the product surface. These can degrade PLA over time. For a normal, active paint station environment, you won't have any problems.
